blepharoplasty

What is blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is the term used to describe the operation to reduce bagginess of the upper and / or lower eyelids to lessen the signs of ageing around the eyes.
Aims of Surgery
  • To improve the appearance of the eye to give a more youthful appearance
  • To enhance the eyes and reduce the appearance of tiredness
  • To produce a result that is in harmony with the face and has a natural appearance
These aims are achieved by careful pre-operative assessment to ensure the surgical plan is tailored to the individual patient
Before the Operation
  • One and sometimes two consultations are required
  • Pre-operative photographs will be taken and an indication of the desired outcome may be demonstrated on the computer
  • Aspirin-containing drugs should be stopped two weeks prior to surgery
  • Smoking should cease or be reduced as much as possible
  • Arnica tablets may help reduce bruising and may be taken 7 days before and after surgery
  • Previous eye complaints (dryness, watering, visual disturbance) should be discussed with your surgeon
